An effervescent city, Belo Horizonte is a fitting capital of Minas. The third biggest city in Brazil, and the fourth richest, what really makes Belo Horizonte stand out is its unity of the traditional with the contemporary, of orderly urbanisation with exuberant nature and cosmopolitan air with Minas hospitality. Surrounded by the Serra do Curral, Belo Horizonte was the first planned modern Brazilian city and its name (Portuguese for Pretty Horizon) could not be more appropriate. From the tops of its hills and mountains, wherever you choose to look, the views are simply breath-taking and nature, which has been very generous to this region, offers the unequalled spectacle of a stunning daily sunset. The capital has dozens of well-preserved squares, streets lined with trees, pretty gardens and grand parks which are home to a variety of species of fauna and flora, and which serve as refuge for those seeking peace and tranquillity. Due to its passion for nature, the city is already recognised by its title of the “Garden-City”. With the inspiration of those blessed with so much natural beauty, breathing culture, art, bohemia and gastronomy, Beagá’s bustling cultural calendar plays host to all types of international shows, exhibitions and festivals. Its groups of dance, theatre and music have crossed the mountains to win the hearts of the world. The perfect accompaniment for all of this bustling culture is the city’s offering of a variety of dining options. Its traditional bars, with seats lining the pavements, are an irresistible venue for meeting friends, enjoying chats, flirting and experiencing different types of snacks which, being so delicious, even have their own festival! Beagá is the Latin American capital of bars, and for those who desire a more informal and bohemian atmosphere, there is not a better place in existence.
