Founded in around the 17th century, this hospitable city in the south of Minas Gerais is home to extensive textile parks, providing visitors with a variety of options for shopping on the famous Avenida da Moda (Fashion Avenue). Passos’ attractions include the Furnas Lake, Pedra Lake, Alvim Forest, “Dr. Emílio Piantino” Municipal Park, and the Santa Bárbara Tree. On the cultural front, the city offers the Nossa Senhora da Penha Chapel, the Matriz Senhor Bom Jesus dos Passos Church, the Culture House and, one of its main highlights, a collection of works by artist Wagner de Castro. Tourists who visit Passos have the opportunity to appreciate and participate in the city’s folk customs, such as Guardas de Congo, Moçambique, Pastorinhas, and Paixão de Cristo (Passion of Christ).
