This municipality features the characteristic peace and quiet of life in the provinces of Brazil. It is the perfect place for contemplation and for taking the opportunity to observe nature from the many viewpoints spread throughout the region. Among its main tourist attractions are the Waterfalls of Capetinga, Caraúna, and Sertão Grande. Religious faith is expressed in the Capetinga, São Benedito and the Matriz São Sebastião Churches. Itapeva also celebrates its historically memorable dates with themed festivals. Created in 2003, the Carnaval de Rua (Street Carnival) brings the city to life with shows in Joaquim Luiz Square, parades with carnival shows, and presentations from local samba/drumming schools. During this time, Itapeva welcomes tourists from neighbouring cities and São Paulo. In June, the main attraction of the region is the “Junifest”, a festival that brings together all the municipal, state and private schools in promotion of the event. The event offers presentations from a range of bands, as well as a regional consecration show in the south of Minas.
