Extrema is located in the Mantiqueira Sierra, some 935 metres high. It was a doorway for the “bandeirantes”, flag flying explorers from São Paulo, travelling towards Minas Gerais. Surrounded by exuberant nature, the area boasts beautiful tourist attractions and diverse cultural events. In addition, the city offers great hotels and hostels of varying prices, and agencies provide guides for walks or adventure sports such as rafting, canyoneering and free flying.
